Josh Trlin is a second term councillor at Porirua City Council first elected in 2019. He was elected on a platform of prioritising action on the climate crisis, restoring Te Awarua-o-Porirua Harbour, enabling denser and more affordable housing, and investment into water infrastructure. In his first council term Josh led the charge on making proactive response to the climate crisis a key strategic priority at Porirua City Council, including securing PCC’s first dedicated climate crisis funding and implementing PCC’s first long term climate strategy. He has recently been appointed as co-chair of Porirua City Council’s main committee Te Puna Kōrero.
A former lawyer, Josh now works as an organiser at the Public Service Association alongside his role as a councillor. He is a graduate of Victoria University with a double degree in law and commerce, majoring in public policy.
Josh is a passionate activist and community organiser with a particular interest in promoting youth-led campaigns and organisations. He is an active supporter of groups such as School Strike for Climate, Free Fares NZ, Make It 16 and the Living Wage movement.
