He uri nō Ngāti Porou ki Tairāwhiti, Nedine is Gisborne-Tairāwhiti born and raised. With qualifications including a Bachelor of Arts, Masters of Education (Māori education) and Masters of Business Administration.
Nedine’s career spans many sectors and organisations at a senior level (nationally and regionally), from crown research, social development and education to private business ownership.
As a skilled professional in strategic planning, organisational and programme management, Nedine joined Gisborne District Council in 2009 as Group Manager of Community Planning and Development, serving in the role for eight years before becoming Chief Executive in 2017.
In her tenure, Nedine has championed transformative changes in mind-sets, operating models, priorities, investments and leadership that has enabled courageous conversations, collaborative relationships and progressive steps toward stronger Tiriti partnerships for the Gisborne District Council.
Nedine is a chartered member of the Institute of Directors and has recently been appointed to the Interim Ministerial Advisory Commitfee for the Māori climate action platform.
